Over from Ireland was in October a colleague of mine – Pat Murray – who I met at Galway University in 1996. He’s a regular visitor to Bamberg.
It was nice to hear a native speaker addressing the classroom. The students also enjoyed hearing some interesting facts about his native country. The pupils from class 6a and 6e liked Pat’s comments on Irish life and sport. They even learned some Irish phrases from him and Pat taught them how to play Gaelic football.
Mrs Popp’s class also learnt how to introduce themselves in Gaelic: Cad is ainm duit? (What’s your name?) Pat is ainm dom. (My name is Pat.)
